Giants wide receiver Steve Smith said his agent has talked to the Giants about a contract extension. But the wide receiver, who is under contract through the upcoming season, does not expect anything to happen anytime soon. "I haven't talked to my agent about it," Smith said. "He said hopefully within the year, within nine months or something. We will see what happens. They are in talks and I just told him to handle it and I will take care of whatever I can take care of on the field. I'm not really worrying about it right now." Smith, who had 107 receptions for 1,220 yards last season, isn't going to press the issue though. He is focused on the upcoming season and just wants future security. "I don't think it is going to happen before training camp," Smith said. "If it does that is great."

Wish more receivers had his attitude. Come to work...do your job...worry about money after.

He deserves a nice contract. He's the Giants "Wes Welker."
