Super Bowl XLVIII will be played at the new stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., that is shared by the Giants and Jets. New York won out, defeating bids from South Florida and Tampa, sites that have hosted numerous Super Bowls. It took a second, a third vote and then a fourth vote from the NFL owners meeting in Texas this afternoon after South Florida was knocked out. That shows right there that some owners were opposed to the idea of taking the big game to the Big Apple. New York could not gain 75 percent (24 of 32 votes) to win on the third ballot, so, the Giants/Jets went to a fourth ballot where they won by majority over Tampa.

I'm hoping real football fans do Mush and not corporate guys and hollywood stars. Might be the best halftime performance ever.....won't be 70 year old rockers....too cold for their thinning blood. :icon_cheesygrin:

I am glad to see it. I dont think the corporate effect will be any different than when its in Miami. I do agree with Doug on the halftime performers recently, pick some one that wasnt playing before packed houses in the 1960's.

I'm all for having it in the cold weather. The downside is you're not going to get great football unless you think running the ball for a quarter going against the wind hoping only to not fumble or turn the ball over until the team gets to the next quarter.

If a fan can afford New Orleans, Los Angeles, wherever, a fan could afford the Super Bowl in New York. It's all overpriced and legal rape no matter where it is...

Most of it is sponsor bullcrap anyway.

It's not just about game day, gotta figure logistics as well.

If the airport is closed because of weather then what?
