Rookie cornerback Amari Spievey had his ups and downs in the Lions' most recent organized team activity. "He's just like all the other rookies. He's spotty," Schwartz said. "He does some good things and then does some not-so-good things. It's a learning process. He's going against veteran players out there and gets beat sometimes, but you can see his ability to make some plays." Unlike most rookies, Spievey faces a bit of an interesting challenge. He was drafted in the third round, 66th overall, out of Iowa, making him the Lions' highest-drafted corner since Terry Fair went 20th overall in 1998. Spievey also is trying to become the Lions' first drafted corner to start regularly since Stanley Wilson, the 72nd overall pick in 2005. Spievey is still dealing with tightness in his hips, but Schwartz said he was confident the injury would not set him back much. "So he's behind a little bit there, but he'll catch up pretty quickly," Schwartz said. Source: Detroit Free Press
