Isaac Bruce gave one of the more emotional retirement news conferences (although they all tend to lean that way) that one will see Wednesday. Bruce, who was brought back to St. Louis in a trade earlier this week so he could retire as a Ram, stood at the podium to collect his thoughts for nearly a full minute before he was even able to speak. When he eventually was able to get the words out, Bruce thanked too many people to list, and he also spoke openly about his feelings toward the organization that drafted him in the second round in 1994 and was home for his first 14 NFL seasons. “The moment I got here, I claimed ownership of this organization,†Bruce said. “I would never be too big not to clean up around this place, pick up a piece of trash, or I would never be too big — or too small — to do anything else needed by this organization. I always felt it was the greatest organization in the league, and I’d never do anything or say anything to tear down my own house with my words or with my hands. So whenever the subject came up about how the Rams were playing or how [bad] the offense was or how the defense was giving up too many yards rushing, I would always remove myself, because I didn’t want to hear that. I didn’t want to down or not speak life to what I was a part of. And I was a part of this organization.â€

he was fun to watch in his prime. he's got 1024 receptions, 5th all-time, 15208 yards, 2nd all-time, and 91 td's, 9th all-time. He is a 4 time pro bowler and has a SB ring. I say he should be in.

However, the HOF committee is usually luke-warm towards WR's. Cris Carter has more receptions and TD's than Bruce and he's STILL not in so I'm not sure if Bruce will get in or not.

Exactly the point I was going to make Capt. He was a talent for sure but I can't justify him being enshrined.

  5. In addition some said that he shouldn't be enshrined because of the offense he played in.

I ain't buying that. But then again I'm a Gator fan.

  7. I'm not saying I believe it either.

if that's the case, then keep Jerry Rice out because he was in the most prolific passing scheme of his generation too ............................

There's a lot of great WR's that are struggling to make the HOF, and sadly Bruce will join that list. Voters seem to have a complete disregard for the importance of an elite playmaker out wide.

it was a great, borderline tremendous career...but not hall worthy

2nd in Receiving Yards, 5th in Receptions, 9th in TD's.

That's hall of fame figures, throw in the production in a lot of bad Rams team and the Superbowl performance. I'd put him in irregardless of my homerism.

like said before, its not like it would be criminal for him to get in, but hes not a lock especially because of the position. he more had a very long, steady career than an eye opening take over the world one. the hall is for the best of the best, not just the very good. he played for a very long time and played on some ridiculous offenses and does deserve to have his number retired as a ram, but he will never be mentioned with the elites of the game

I tend to agree with you, but a lot of that came from his selflessness, because when Torry Holt took at No.1 slot, 95% of star WR's would have demanded a trade, yet Bruce stuck around and still did a fantastic job right to the very end of his career in STL.

I just hope Kurt Warner & Isaac enter the Hall in the same.

i agree, he was a star receiver that had no problems taking the back seat to holt and steadily contributed for a long time with zero typical WR diva problems. he just did his job and did it well for like 16 years
