Raiders Trade Offer For John Henderson May Not Have Happened

After signing veteran defensive tackle John Henderson, it was reported in the San Francisco Chronicle that the Oakland Raiders were willing to give up a fifth-round pick to acquire the 6-7, 335-pound run-stuffer, but the Jaguars would not move him for anything less than a fourth-round pick. Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union thinks that's a nice story, but it's a bit lacking in the truth department. "The Raiders didn't offer any pick for Henderson but hey why let the truth get in the way of a good story," Stellino tweeted on Monday morning. It's hard to know which side is telling the truth--April is traditionally "Liar's Month" in the NFL--but a fifth-round pick for an expensive veteran with a limited future on the team sounds about right. With the Jaguars having already selected defensive tackles Tyson Alualu (first round) and D'Anthony Smith (third-round), two players who essentially pushed Henderson off the roster, if the Raiders were offering a fifth-round pick, it's hard to envision the Jaguars not accepting the offer.

I don't get how our front 7 will look now...

    Houston-Seymour-Kelly-Shaughnessy
    Wimbley-McClain-Scott

    or

    Houston-Seymour-Henderson/Kelly-Shaughnessy
    Wimbley-McClain-Scott

    or

    Houston-Seymour-Henderson-Kelly/Shaughnessy
    Wimbley-McClain-Scott

Will Scott only be at LB now?

Or is Henderson only for 3-4 looks?

Meh...I only see him spelling Scott once in awhile. I see Howard getting more of those reps though.

if they give alot of 34 looks i would expect groves and wimbley to be the primary pass rushers

Scott is a better pass rusher in a 3-4 than Groves.

He's a backup now. We have mad depth at LB and DL.

i dont even know if T howard is going to make it out training camp hes got alot of competition in front of him who are bigger and stronger i think he will be on the bubble with groves. I already heard wimbley and scott are starters with McClain in the middle where does that put howard. Unless we switch to a 3-4 which i dont see happening according to namdi they play a straight basic 4-3 D no matter who the Dcoordinator is.

They started throwing in some 3-4 looks. Scott was at DE/OLB last year. Howard and Groves will make it out of training camp for sure, I'd bet on it, but they won't be starting.

you forget its als scheme when it comes to defense. i think scott will be a full time olb this season i see groves in the dumervil role maybe third down pass rusher.
