According to sources familiar with the situation, the Jets are willing to reward Pro-Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis with the biggest contract ever given to a defensive back, one that could even exceed $100 million. The Jets are unwilling to meet Revis' demand for an average of $16.2 million per season, which would exceed Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha's contract of three years for $45.3 million. What the Jets appear ready to do instead is add six years to the existing deal, a total package that, when added to the remaining $21 million Revis is owed would approach $100 million or more, and that deal, which would average around $12 million per season, would keep Revis with the Jets until he is 33.

I'm guessing that reason is Andre Johnson.

Yes, 16 million for one player is ridiculous. I can justify that for Peyton Manning, but he is the only player in the league worth that much really. Maybe Drew Brees, maybe Brady.

I understand he is outstanding and the best defender in football, but he is still one guy. You can get two damn good players for $8 mil a season for that price.

I would not pay revis that much even though he's an outstanding football player. I would part ways especially since they have an already great secondary which they wont have to overpay. you can buy four quality players for that much money!
