Ex-Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell Arrested for Drug Possession

JaMarcus Russell was arrested today in Alabama for possession of a controlled substance, according to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. The Mobile Press-Register is reporting Russell was in possession of codeine syrup. He was arrested after an undercover investigation, and later released on bail. Russell is scheduled to appear in court on July 20. A bond hearing is set for July 7. Russell, the first overall pick of the 2007 NFL draft, was released by the Raiders this spring and the Jets were rumored to be interested in signing him to back up Mark Sanchez.

HAHA. This is too good. If there was any doubt about his status as biggest (literally) draft bust ever, I think this puts all that to bed.

 

And according to Tom Martinez the Raiders ruined Russell. This is something Raider fans knew for a few years now that he was addicted to leaning in the offseason.

 

Anyone who blames the Raiders for his poor play are stupid. I doubt even the Pats or Colts coaching staff could get that lazy fat SOB to pull his weight (har har) and develop what is a very raw skill base.

Back on topic, I would be amazed anyone would pick him up now after this. It clearly shows that losing his job has had no positive effect on him whatsoever.
