After Cedric Benson's arrest in Texas on Tuesday stemming from an altercation at a bar Memorial Day weekend, the most asked question has been whether the running back will be suspended for violating the National Football League's personal conduct policy. If Benson were to be suspended, the Bengals would have three options - Bernard Scott, Cedric Peerman or a new acquisition. Once cuts begin in training camp, there could be a back released from another team who could help the Bengals. Right now the only big-name free agent is Brian Westbrook, but he has a history of concussions and is said to be going to the Redskins.

I just don't get it. Why can't NFL players stay out of situations. Can't they go out somewhere and not get into something? I guess this is a minority all things considered but still....stay away from clubs and bars and stuff that are gonna get you in situations. Wether you bring it on or not.

regardless of Benson getting into trouble, the Bengals desperately needed depth at RB anyway. Benson has a history of injuries and they are running the crap out of him the last couple of seasons. It's just a matter of time before he has something major happen and they may think bernard scott could be a #2 but i don't think anyone in cincy wants to rest their playoff hopes on the shoulders of scott and brian leonard as a 1-2 punch. the way they want to win games (running game and solid defense), they require a solid running game and scott and leonard aren't going to get the job done.
