Eagles Eyeing Ravens QB Troy Smith To Replace Michael Vick?

While it seems like right now the Philadelphia Eagles plan on standing behind their backup QB Michael Vick, you never know how these things will turn out. Howard Eskin of 610 WIP tweets that if the Eagles do move on from Vick, they could be cfreaking out former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith from the Ravens as a replacement. "Eagles looking at QB troy smith from baltimore just in case they blow up michael vick. And they will find another QB," he tweets. Eskin's next tweet was much more forceful. "Say goodbye to vick!!!," he tweets.

They give a guy a second chance, he kind of screws up, nothing too major, so now they are looking for another "wildcat QB?" I think they'd be looking for another legitimate backup, not Troy Smith.

I'm surprised Eskin didn't tweet that the Eagles are looking at Freddie Mitchell to replace Vick.

 

Not really right? What could Smith possibly bring to the table? Bullcrap.

 

If they were actually looking for someone, it wouldn't surprise me if Sage's name comes up.

 

Smith won the starting job in '08 before he got sick. No one knows what would have happened. I think people are underestimating him.

Let him go for a 6th round draft pick. We would probably not get anything more for him. How much of a new system and verbage would he be able to pick up this late anyhow. We did not sign Marc Bulger for nothing.

They're not interested in him as a starter. If you can get him for a 6th rounder, go for it. He's a decent wildcat type QB with the ability to play if need be. I hate...HATE Ohio State and everything that encompasses it, but I'd love Troy Smith on my team. As long as he's willing to wear #82 so the team can keep using the same 1 Smith jersey, perfect!!

 

A waste of keystrokes would be J-a-m-a-r-c-u-s R-u-s-s-l-e. The Philadelphia Eagles have to cover their butt. Kolb is a competent QB & Vick would only be on the field if Kolb was injured or those maybe 2 plays a game for the wild cat.

If some wild rabbit of a charge was to take out Vick; like a gun charge then the Eagles would have their pants down because it would be a rookie on the backup without any NFL experience. Troy Smith is a lot better scenario backup than an unproven rookie, in a competitive division that has Dallas, NYG & maybe an up swinging Redskins with a QB that has something to prove that he shouldn't have been let loose?

 

there are much better options out there than troy smith.
