Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell has no intentions of playing in the United Football League, according to a source close to the former top overall pick. Russell, who was cut by the Raiders after an undistinguished tenure in Oakland marked by weight issues and general ineffectiveness on the field, is still hoping to play in the NFL. The Russell camp remains in touch with NFL teams and are optimistic that he'll eventually get another shot. Russell's lawyer has expressed confidence that the strong-armed former LSU star will be exonerated for illegal possession of codeine. And a source close to Russell predicted: "We believe it's going to be thrown out of court. He was targeted." Source: National Football Post
Technically he wouldn't ever need it if he spent that money responsibly and put some of it in a savings account.
Purple Drank can get expensive. His career in the NFL is done unless he does the UFL or CFL or AFL to show he's not worse than 2nd rate football players. It was disgusting where he was drafted and now it's disgusting he still thinks he's NFL worthy.
I hope I see this POS bankrupt, drugged up, starving, and living on the street with people laughing at him in 20 years.
Sadly, he will get another shot to resurrect his career by SOMEONE... it's so sad how a former #1 overall is a huge freaking project, but that's what he is. If he got his mind right and put in the effort, he might amount to a decent player. That is an enormous 'if', I know.
"He was targeted." Yeah, because he was buying drugs illegally, probably by the case. By all means use any legal maneuver you can to beat the case, but that statement is really dumb.
Too funny...he's probably already well on his way to broke. But he's too lazy to 'work'...he'd rather sit on his fat butt in Vegas and blow what money he has left.
I hear wearing your underwear and gold tipped socks can do wonders for a guy in Vegas. I think it is a safe bet to say that Russell didn't have the sense to invest or save that money...
