The 49ers surrender a regular-season home game in October to take part in the NFL's international series but owner John York envisions a decided home-crowd advantage even if the game is not played at Candlestick Park. York, the chair of the NFL's international committee, believes the London crowd will support the 49ers in their Oct. 31 game against the Denver Broncos at Wembley Stadium. York, along with tight end Vernon Davis and coach Mike Singletary, participated in a media tour overseas to promote the 49ers' game against the Broncos. "I was excited about coming here," York told the media. "I think we will have a good home-field advantage here in the UK. I was here for the (New England-Tampa Bay) game last year and there were a lot of 49er fans here." Moreover, York said he believes London will play a larger role in the NFL's future. "I'm sure it'll be a positive experience for us," he said. "And if we move from 16 regular games to 18 games, then we'll have other games that are played in neutral positions outside the United States. There is easily enough of a fan base over here to stage two games a season. I think eventually there will be a Super Bowl outside the U.S. I couldn't tell you when that would be. I can see it both ways. I'm not sure what will be first, a Super Bowl over here or an NFL team, but they both seem likely to happen."

You said the exact same thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread. I was bothered at first, but realized how little it would likely affect me.

When the popularity increases outside of the US, the cheating starts.

I could care less if anyone outside of the US likes football, they have their own particular brand of sports that has nothing to do with me.

Football is a US sport and should be played only in the US, including the Super Bowl. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
