Radio station 620wdae has just announced that the Titans are suing USC and head coach Lane Kiffin over the hiring of RB coach Kennedy Pola. Lane Kiffin supposedly contacted Pola before asking or telling Titans head coach Jeff Fisher of USC's intentions. More info will be posted as it becomes available.

They should make Lane move back to Tennessee and live there for the next 2 years. See how he likes that.

does an ncaa team have to notify an nfl team?...they're 2 seperate entities

I guess they can sue them.

Can't say that I'm surprised. Bout time this douche was held accountable for his unethical ways. Common sense dictates you CALL the head coach and TALK to THEM before doing anything like this. Not leaving a voice mail after the fact.

you're correct. the only way this is going to stand up in court is if the titans had an airtight clause in his contract that he couldn't take another coaching job anywhere at any level and, even then, it may not hold up because USC is not a direct competitor to the Titans.

If he had jumped to another nfl team, they may have had a shot.

Agreed. I don't think it will hold up in court. As long as he pays back whatever his salary is that he didn't work and any penalties for breaking the contract (if there are any) then I don't see how the Titans could do anything. The running game in Tennessee looks shaky after all these problems...even with CJ.

Isn't Pola that signed the contract? Why not sue him?

Who says Kiffin even knew anything about that clause? Prospective employers don't go to current employers seeking to see what contracts the prospective employee signed.

I don't know why Pola would want to go to USC in the first place. Doesn't he read the newspapers?
