The New England Patriots placed wide receiver Wes Welker on the active/physically unable to perform list, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reported Tuesday. Welker will be regularly evaluated and can be taken off the active PUP list any day. This contrasts with the reserve PUP list, which requires a player to miss at least six regular-season games. The Boston Globe reported Sunday that Welker would be ready for the full opening of Patriots camp, which is Wednesday. When Welker is removed from the active PUP list, he would count against the Patriots' roster limit of 80 players. Source: NFL.com
