Oakland Raiders second-round draft pick Lamarr Houston’s intensity has been receiving praise from the coaches while ruffling the feathers of some of his veteran teammates who were quick to put him back in his place but it’s all good. The second-round (No. 44 overall) defensive end out of Texas just wants to prove he belongs in the NFL and is willing to put in the work to stay there. “He’s relentless,†Raiders head coach Tom Cable told Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle. “Every play, he’s a pain in the rear for the guy he’s going against, and that’s important.†Just ask Rock Cartwright who followed quarterback Jason Campbell out west after spending the previous eight seasons with Washington Redskins. During last month’s minicamp, Houston slammed the veteran running back into the ground. Cartwright quickly and loudly shouted, “We ain’t got no (expletive) pads on, man!â€

houston is sick...the raiders had a good draft with mcclain, houston, veldheer and campbell....its kind of graded on a curve since eveyrone was expecting them to heck it up so bad but houston is a great addition to their defense playing next to guys like kelly, seymour, groves, henderson, wimbley...this defense could be pretty badass, thats alot of beef on the dline

This was my favorite pick of the Raiders' draft. Houston just seems like he has all the makings of an elite dlineman. The fact that he can play end and DT is impressive and he has the talent to anchor their line as both a run-stuffer and pass-rusher.

    Nice work Al

Not to mention he would be a great leader on that line later on and McClain would be a great leader for our LBs.

They still gonna try a 34? If so they need this guy to step it up. If he can be effective like Franklin is in SF, Mclain could look like Willis.

Nope. 43. Probably some 34 looks though.
