Tim Tebow agreed to a contract with the Denver Broncos on Thursday. The deal for the 25th overall draft pick is for five years with $8.7 million guaranteed and worth a maximum value of $33 million, according to NFL.com. The Broncos began workouts with other rookies on Wednesday, but Tebow missed the first few practices while the sides hammered out a deal. Head coach Josh McDaniels had said earlier on Thursday that negotiations with Tebow's agent, Jimmy Sexton, were "not contentious." Tebow will now enter a camp and compete with Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn for snaps in the Broncos camp. He is expected to be on the field when the team begins full-squad workouts on Saturday. Haha, yeah I am over the top with it, but then again, it balances out with the treatment the media/Gator fans give him :icon_cool:
If he can get it, take it... Also a good thing Orton feels like this: ...or this would sting a bit.
Tebow did well for himself. Significantly more than the 24 pick last season and roughly the same (a little less) that Freeman got on his deal. Less guaranteed money though...to be expected going from 17 to 24. Now perform on the field and your next contract will be crazy! Curious to see what he's getting paid in endorsements...
:ariba: Hell, if the media stop kissing his arse every second of the day and he drops the self-important "I'm a true christian therefore I am better than you" public persona, then I'm more than happy to get behind him.
