CBS4 Sports has learned that the Denver Broncos have traded running back JJ Arrington to the Philadelphia Eagles. In exchange, the Broncos receive linebacker Joe Mays. Joe Mays is a third year player out of North Dakota State, and was a 6th round draft pick of the Eagles in 2008. Mays was largely a special teams player, starting just one game in his 2 seasons with Philadelphia. JJ Arrington originally signed with the Broncos in March 2009, but was released just two and a half months later after failing a physical. The Broncos then signed the 5th year pro out of the University of California-Berkeley on March 4, 2010.

  2. I don't think Arrington will even make the team.

he's junk, arrington can only catch the ball and will fight with charles scott for the third RB spot, hopefully this motivates scott to fight to make the team. Mays likely wouldn't have made the team and it's likely arrington won't either.

  5. correct. In a 3-4 it won't matter that that's all he can do.

Eagles get a conditional 6th round pick if Arrington doesn't make the team. Easy decision for them to make the trade.

I have a good friend who is die hard eagles fan, and he said mays can hit, but struggles for playing time.....maybe he can catch on here, but we didnt lose much anyways

he struggles for playing time because he can't do anything except hit - when he doesn't miss. He couldn't get playing time on a team that was riddled with injuries at LB. Honestly, I don't see how broncos could add a draft pick in trading for this guy. I'm not complaining. It just gives one of our many prospects at LB from the draft a slightly better shot at making the team.

Seriously...Scott, Malett, and Buckley were all fighting for 3rd spot. Now this dude too? This about realizing Mays won't cut it in our D and getting a pick out of the Donkey's. I support it.

On a related not I have decided Mattlet will be my camp hero this year that I pull for. I like the idea of not making the NFL so going to CFL and lighting it up to earn your spot in the NFL next year.

Arrington's been lighting it up in camp. On consecutive plays he fumbled and then dropped a pass open in the flat.
