If Brett Favre leaves the Vikings now, after the team bet everything on his return by not drafting a quarterback or trading for Donovan McNabb, the Dolphins should try to take advantage of the situation and offer to bail out the Vikings. Jeff Ireland should call Rick Spielman and offer quarterback Chad Pennington. A second-round pick for Pennington would suffice. Even a third-round pick should tempt the Dolphins to pull the trigger. I'm not sure if i'd consider Chad Pennington a "bail out." The writer is prolly a little bias being in miami but not too sure how well pennington would do there. Certainly not as good as Farve did last year.
I'm not buying this. Pennington wouldn't be an upgrade over Jackson at this point in his career. His place is in Miami helping Chad Henne.
Trade him to the Titans. If the Vikings trade for Kerry Collins, the Titans will need a veteran backup to Vince Young.
Chris Simms??? The same Chris Simms who hasn't thrown a pass since '07? He is the epitome of a washed-up QB. He is NOTHING like his father.
Hey I didn't say it was a good option man. I just said he is a veteran who is on our roster. He would have been a good QB if he hadn't had to have his spleen removed. BTW, he started a game last year for the Broncos.
Smith could be a darkhorse QB in this past draft. He'd have to luck himself into starting (injury/poor play from starter) in a few years, but if he gets the opportunity, he could be something.
Didn't Pennington have a no trade clause in his contract? I think he wanted one when he signed his new contract. **********Automerged Doublepost********** I guess the no trade clause was rejected. Sources: Chad Pennington to return to the Miami Dolphins - ESPN his contract increases by 1.515 million if he is traded.
