Even as Pro Bowl CB Darrelle Revis holds out of training camp, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan has made little attempt to soften his stance that Revis is the game's best cornerback. Ryan has said that numerous times, and has continued to heap praise upon Revis even as he bickers with the team over the $1 million salary his current deal is set to pay him this year. Revis wants to be the league's highest-paid cornerback. And Ryan said Thursday he won't change his approach when talking about Revis: "I'm just going to be myself. I've stated all along the kind of player that I think Darrelle is. People want to throw it in our face that you shouldn't say it. "The tape doesn't lie. This guy's a heck of a football player. He is under contract for three years so you like to see him out here. You hope it works out in the end where both sides are happy. That's what needs to happen." Source: USAToday
I really dont see the big deal about Ryan talking about him like that. Somebody on ESPN was hammering Ryan over the comments. First of all Revis knows hes at least one of the best cbs without anyones help. Second, even without Ryan hyping him up the media is all over him.
