Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has been pleased with the progress of second-year RB Isaac Redman. "He has a low center of gravity, doesn't fumble, and has nice leg drive," Tomlin said. "His patience and vision have also improved. He's looking good." The Steelers are looking to build running back depth behind Rashard Mendenhall. Mewelde Moore seems to have locked up a role as a third-down back, and that leaves Redman competing with rookie Jonathan Dwyer for backup touches. Dwyer has the better long-term outlook, but Redman might be far more advanced as a goal-line back. Source: CBS Sports
Regardless of what type of quality player you think he is, we're might thin behind Mendy and Moore. He better be ok. Dwyer is overweight and underconditioned, Summers is still being toyed with as a FB that Arians refuses to apply to most of his schemes. Regardless of him being the best thing in shorts according to the Fan boi's, he will be necessary to help out.
where are you seeing dwyer is overweight an unconditioned? hes looked lean and in good shape when ive seen him
SCI. At lunch I"ll dig up some quotes. **********Automerged Doublepost********** Looked good at the OTA's then packed on the pounds before camp. **********Automerged Doublepost********** We later learned that Tomlin is not happy with the rookie Dwyer because he reported to training camp about 20 pounds more than what he weighed in the spring. We all marveled at the shape Dwyer was in this spring because one reason he was not drafted until the sixth round, or so they say, is because he had a tendency to put on to be overweight. http://plus.sites.post-gazette...ough-first-week
damn, he was in GREAT shape in the spring...i guess we'll see how it plays out redman is just a sensation again, id be shocked if he saw the field during the regular season
As long as he can contribute on ST's and can punch it in while in the redzone, I see no issue keeping him aboard.
