New York Jets Pro Bowl center Nick Mangold knows that the earlier he'll receive a new contract is after the 2010 season. "I'm not happy about it, but I accepted that fact," Mangold told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Mangold is scheduled to earn $3.3 million in 2010, the final year of the rookie contract he signed after being chosen with the 29th overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft. Mangold considered a training camp holdout, but with the release of veteran Alan Faneca, quickly decided to show up for camp to help Faneca's replacement--either Matt Slauson or 2010 second-round pick Vladimir Ducasse--adjust to the NFL. "When those two guys are battling, they need all the help they can get," Mangold said. "As a team, we're only as good as our weakest link. There's no reason we should have a weak link at offensive line." Source: Mac's Football Blog
Nice to see someone understands what's best for the team and puts his personal interests aside. Hopefully this doesn't work out badly for him like it did for Leon Washington.
they paid brick big (whos average at best imo) and are going to smash their bank open for revis whos good but hes still a freaking corner....but they wont pay THE best center in the league, hes the colsest thing to a one man oline your ever gonna get and simply dominates the opposition in every aspect of the game. dont take this crap nick, tell the jets to heck off youve been in the league longer than revis and dominated from day one on a lesser contract, one great year from him and he wants a $100 million? heck that
I'm shocked, a NFL player that actually puts him team first? I knew of this dude but now I'm a fan of his.
more like a player that doesnt mind being crap on. hes weak. i dont agree with hold outs most of the time but i think he is definitely a legit candidate considering hes hands down the best center in the league, its not even really a contest. the jets paid an OLD, terrible alan faneca who has been among the worst guards in the league the last 2 years a 40 million dollar deal and they have openly admitted to being willing to make revis the highest paid defensive player with over $100 million....and yet the single most dominate interior lineman in the league isnt a priority and hes only what? 25? i hope the jets get screwed out of him and he goes to the patriots or something lol
