This is how far apart holdout cornerback Darrelle Revis and the Jets are on 10-year proposals they each have on the table: A staggering $40 million. And that doesn't even take into account the ongoing battle over signing bonus and guaranteed money. If they can cut their differences down by $1 million per day between now and the Jets' opener on Sept. 13 against the Ravens, the gap will be still be $7 million. The Daily News has learned the Jets have had a 10-year, $120 million offer on the table for months as one of their two proposals. Although the Jets continue to insist "we are flexible on how the guaranteed money is structured, including the areas of signing bonus, roster bonus and option bonus," they have not yet attached a specific dollar figure to any guaranteed money.

I don't even think Peyton Manning will demand that kind of money... I know Revis is good and all, but come on.. That is freaking crazy.

No wonder they don't care if he sits out the season. There isn't a word that covers how ridiculous that proposal is.

Jeeezus, that's a crapload of cash. Won't get anything near it, especially if he sits out this year.

he's done if he doesn't play. Every year there is a new shiny CB, especially on a team that has a pass rush.

yep, CB's are a dime a dozen in many ways and they should never be the highest paid player on a roster. however, i wouldn't say he would be 'done' if he sits for a year. someone is still going to give him a huge contract (maybe $10-$12m/yr just based on his talent)

his loses a year of service time if he sits out all year which means he'd still be under contract with the jets and right back to square one next season. oh wait there will be a lockout more than likely in 2001 which means he'd be without a paycheck (while being fined) for over a year come then.

Long term deals in football is a terrible idea. One hit to the knee and you could never be the same. Thats some outrageous money. Screw him.
