Ravens offensive tackle Jared Gaither has been diagnosed with a tear in his back and will likely miss the next two to three weeks. Head coach John Harbaugh said after Saturday's practice at McDaniel College in Westminster that Gaither flew to California earlier in the week to see another back specialist, who found what Harbaugh called "a very small tear" during his examination of Gaither who has not practiced since Aug. 5. "I don't know the medical term for it," Harbaugh said. "It's not a serious thing, but it's going to keep him out for a couple weeks until it settles down because it's what's causing the spasms apparently. He's going to have to work as hard as he can, and we'll have to try to work it out. I wouldn't hold my breath for about two weeks, three weeks through camp here and then we'll see where we're at at that point." Gaither certainly is having an unfortunate start to this campaign - I hope he gets his crap together in the season.
Not happy with this dude and his maturity level. Not that it had anything to do with this injury. He needs more of a Oher, Cody attitude. He is always almost there and boom, another set back. He also had no business losing 30 pounds in the off season with out consulting with the team. Still a big work in progress. Sigh!
The thing with Gaither is that he knows that after this season he is a free agent and is most likely signing with a new team in free agency. He better get healthy and have a hell of season if he wants that big free agency contract that he is looking for.
