Redskins wide receiver Devin Thomas has remained optimistic despite being listed as the third-string X receiver, or split end, on the opening depth chart. The third-year player had 64 yards on three receptions and teamed with backup quarterback Rex Grossman on a 44-yard touchdown in the Redskins' 42-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Thomas also muffed the opening kickoff, but his performance was positive overall. Coach Mike Shanahan has pushed Thomas to raise his level of play, and that's fine with Thomas. "I feel like Coach Shanahan ... he's definitely going to be the key to my success of just growing and showing my potential," Thomas said. "His attitude is just what I need. I feel like he's the mentor I need and he's on me everyday. I think he's on me for a reason, because he knows what I'm capable of doing. I don't take it harshly with me being on third-string. He just wants me to work hard. At the end of the day, we'll see what happens."

    That sound about right.

I don't think that Thomas puts up top 5 WR numbers, but I think he earns himself a spot as the #1 WR for the Redskins next year, and makes them comfortable with their WR position when Moss is done.

Thomas is a beast, he'll make the team, there's no doubt in my mind. That kid is just nasty, he can get the big plays, you can give him a 1 yard pass and he'll turn it into a 10+ yard gain.

this isnt a question of him making the team, hes a lock to make the team...its where he stands on the depth chart day one.

FML, I read it all wrong haha, that's me for you.

Too be honest I'm not really worried about roster spots till the 4th preseason game. I believe they said Moss was still #1, then Galloway. No idea where Kelly will be. Wouldn't be surprised if he plays 2nd string.
