Albert Haynesworth took his most defiant stand yet against Mike Shanahan on Saturday night, saying the Washington Redskins coach underplayed the two-time All-Pro's medical condition in recent days and that he intends to boycott next year's offseason conditioning program as well. Shanahan gave varying explanations for Haynesworth's idleness each day, initially saying Haynesworth "just was sick," then said the cause was dehydration, then finally said it was "more of a headache than anything else. Haynesworth said he had something more, but he didn't specify what. "You'll have to ask them, but I guess they'll tell you 'headaches' again," said Haynesworth, emphasizing the word by holding his fingers in the air to simulate quotation marks. "It was part of it, but it wasn't all of it. They left out a whole lot of stuff." Why would the Redskins do that? "I don't know. I guess make yourself look good, I don't know. Make me look bad for not going to their offseason conditioning program," Haynesworth said. "But, I mean, next year I'm not coming either. I'll be on my trainer again, and I'll get back in the same shape I'm in, and feel good about myself." Speaking after the Redskins' 23-3 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Haynesworth also said he shouldn't have been playing in the third quarter, when only backups were in the game. "Third quarter. I'm a ninth-year pro," Haynesworth said. "I don't think I should have been out there in the third quarter. But, for having 'headaches' again, that was what they wanted to do."

Siding more and more with Albert. The team has been freaking with him since he came back. Wouldn't surprise me.

I'd never choose a player over my team. Especially not for a big over paid snitch like albert.

Not choosing him over the team, just believe that they are freaking with him and he's getting sick of it. Sure he's over payed, but so is just about every other player in the league.

Freaking with him? Dude Shanahan is making him work. If that's freaking with him then my boss Kathleen is freaking with me too.

He's doing more than that. He's toying with him. Haynesworth is good enough and in shape enough to play on the first string, yet he continues to play him on the 2nd. That's definitely freaking with him, plain and simple.

Yeah, saying since you missed practice and played games you have to earn your way and learn that you are not the boss is definitly freaking with him.

His practiced all week and him punishing on 2nd string already shows he's good. He's making an example of him plain and simple. If the man is great in practice, runs over everyone 2nd string wise, what more is there to it, other than a point being made?

That it is a team game and it's not about the individual. But you have defended Haynesworth the whole time so I doubt you can see past your strange infatuation with him.

I don't see a problem with him. He said he'd come into training camp, he did. He didn't pass his cardio, sure, but he later did. He's practiced with the team fine, minus those three days where he was ill, and during games he's punished on 2nd string, both against the Bills and Ravens.

Everyone makes a big deal because of his paycheck, I look past that.

I look past that too, but Haynesworth is known for being a selfish butthole and now that someone has called him on it, he tries to be the victim.

Like I said, I feel he's being used as an example, sure Shanahan had every right to during Training Camp, but dammit were getting close to football, either cut him or drop the crap, he needs to be our practicing with the first string.

But you said he was in shape and ready to play so if he is then with his talent he can step right in and play. But because Shanahan is calling his bullcrap he is picking on him, which Shanahan has every right too after all the media display Haynesworth. So is Shanahan going harder on him, I would say a little. But Haynesworth deserves being "picked on" because of his behavior.
