Ndamukong Suh is sending a message to opposing players with his words and his actions. The Lions' rookie defensive tackle intends to play within the rules but vows there will be no letup because of an incident involving Cleveland Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme in Saturday night's exhibition game. The mindset for Suh and his teammates on the defensive line is to make opposing teams know they have a hard day's work ahead of them when they face the Lions. "Obviously, I'm not going to go wild and hit a quarterback in the helmet as hard as I can," Suh said after practice Monday. "This is a game of football. It's physical. We want quarterbacks to feel our pressure and offensive linemen to fear us." Suh is likely to be fined by the NFL, but a suspension is unlikely because it is Suh's first offense. Suh was composed when he spoke with reporters after practice Monday. "That's his opinion, which he's entitled to," Suh said of Browns QB Seneca Wallace's comments. "I just want to go out and play hard. That's all I can do. It's not my job to worry if I hit a guy too hard. I was just going after the ball and trying to make a play." Source: FOX Sports Detroit
The lighter fluid in place, just waiting on him to strike the match. Someone better reel this kid in.
First, Delhomme gets rid of the ball and then Suh grabs him by his facemask and hurls him to the ground. How is that not an immediate ejection and definite fine/ 1 game suspension. And I'm someone who thinks the NFL has gone way overboard in protecting QBs. I don't think Suh was doing anything maliciously but in the end it doesn't matter if it leads to an injury, which in this case fortunately didn't happen.
This. I didn't think this guy had this type of mentality, but it's going to be a short-lived career in the NFL if he keeps up these words/actions. I see chop blocks in his future.
i like suh more now....i have always thought he was great but hes always been so humble.....now hes holding out for more money and hitting people late. awesome
So you like him more for pulling off two of the, ahem, 'douche-iest' things a player can do in the league? Yeah that makes sense.
yeah now if he makes it rain at a strip club, fights dogs, or does any kind of steroids....we have my new favorite player **********Automerged Doublepost********** the house of flying spears answers to no one, he makes his own rules. lions fans should freaking be going ape crap over his intensity
It's not so much that the hit was late. It's more the twisting of the head by the facemask and then the tackling by the helmet that will bring a big fine (and should have brought an ejection). He won't get suspended though.
i like the tenacity too but the kid IS going to feel remorse the first time he gets a personal foul penalty late in a game that keeps a drive going and loses the game for his team ....... THAT will tone down his intensity immediately
