The Saints starting weakside linebacker Jonathan Casillas was lost for the season when he was placed on injured reserve. Casillas, a second-year pro who moved into the starting lineup after the first exhibition game, injured his foot in the team’s preseason finale on Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans. The loss of Casillas is a big blow to the Saints defense and especially the linebacking corps, which was already down one starter after middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma injured his groin one week earlier. Casillas started two games last season because of injuries and had 20 tackles along with five stops on special teams. He recorded 18 tackles and a sack this preseason before leaving the game with the Titans.
