If a labor dispute results in a lockout by National Football League owners or a players' strike next year, Ray Edwards plans to be ready for another career: heavyweight boxer. The 6-foot-5, 268-pound Minnesota Vikings defensive end has been sparring, primarily as a way to train for football but he's also serious about becoming a prizefighter. "We don't know what the future is in the NFL, so if there's a work stoppage, then I'll probably fight pretty soon," said Edwards, 25. "Real fighting. I'd do well." Edwards' best punch: "Overhand right," he said. Edwards hasn't had a legitimate bout yet, but said boxing has helped his football technique. He works out most Mondays and Wednesdays even during the season at a gym in Eagan. Source: Pioneer Press
