"I would like to retire a Patriot," Randy Moss said, when asked if his goal was truly to remain in Foxboro. "I really would, but from a business standpoint, I just wanted people to see where I was coming from. I'm 33 years old. I'm on my way out of this league, not (coming) into it. As far as financial security for me and my family, I think that's something we need right now . . . my contract is over, I would like a new one. It's as simple as that." Moss, who is at the end of the three-year, $27 million pact he signed in 2008, a deal in which he took less to stay in New England rather than go to Philadelphia, had indicated he had not received any letters, phone calls, etc., from the organization regarding a new deal. Had that status changed since Sunday? "I don't want to get into that," he answered. Source: Boston Herald
Doesn't Canton decide that? If he signs another 3 year contract, and ends his career at New England, I'd say as a Patriot from all concerned. He really doesn't want to go anywhere else, and his complaints have all pointed that way. Trouble is New England doesn't seem to be willing to pay him the big contract on the tail end of his career. I still think the deal can get done, but I believe Moss will have to take less than his market value to stay. Don't know if he's willing to do that.
