Charlie Batch will start at quarterback for the Steelers when they play in Tampa on Sunday, coach Mike Tomlin confirmed after practice today. Byron Leftwich returned to put in a full practice Wednesday for the first time since the MCL in his left knee was sprained Sept. 2, and is the only other available quarterback on the roster. Dennis Dixon underwent surgery this morning for a torn lateral meniscus but Tomlin provided no update on the condition of his left knee. Source: Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
batch was serviceable when he was an old man back in 06....now he just has nothing less, the defense could play lights out and the steelers could easily lose this game
Oh poor Steelers with their 2-0 start without their star QB, their 6th ranked defence, six straight non-losing seasons and two championships within the last five years. Get a freaking grip you guys :icon_rolleyes:
yeah well when you lose to the chiefs, browns, raiders last year and miss the playoffs....the idea of losing to the bucs isnt a nice one. sure we have expectations for the team to win, thats only logical....but this front office makes terrible moves sometimes and this is one of them, if leftwich couldnt go they should have brought in another QB who could, the offense will be stagnant with batch and if the defense doesnt put up its own points i could see the bucs coming away with this one
The defense will have to have another dominant performance such as last week or we will absolutely lose, and I can see the loss happening very easily now. Hopefully a week with the first team will at least let Batch throw for more then 25 yards.
I saw this game as a loss coming in. I think it's obviously more likely now... "We'll rally around Charlie Batch and we'll play good football." *Insert tears.*
