Saints quarterback Drew Brees didn't seem too concerned Monday night about his team's sluggish start on offense this season, which includes just four touchdowns and 39 points in their two games. The Saints have scored 54 fewer points and have seven fewer offensive touchdowns than they did in their first two outings last season, but the main thing is that they're 2-0 again going into Sunday's matchup with the Atlanta Falcons (1-1) in the Superdome. That they found a way to survive, winning by a total of just eight points in taking a 14-9 win over the Minnesota Vikings and a 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, is as important as all those gaudy numbers they ran up last season. Winning those close games, Brees said, should serve them well later in the season. "We've been here before and have all the confidence in the world no matter who's out on the field, whether it's offense that needs to come up with a big play or defense coming up with a big stop, or special teams," Brees said. "We can win in a lot of ways. To be battle-tested like this, just in the first two weeks of the season, is going to serve us very well going forward." Source: USA Today
Gonna be some tears flowing in the Superdome tomorrow. Atlanta will win this game. Their defense ain't no joke, and the offense just found it's rhythm. Of course, that's just my opinion. And I have a lot of respect for the Saints. The Falcons are just better now. Simple really.
