Mike Singletary Fires 49ers Offensive Coordinator Jimmy Raye

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, Singletary has fired offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye, a day after saying in Kansas City that he would remain in his role. Per the report, quarterbacks coach Mike Johnson will take over the coordinator duties becoming the third under Singletary. Remember, it was Singletary who determined he could not work with Mike Martz at the end of the 2008 season. It's an interesting move but one that doesn't fix the problems the 49ers have right now in the midst of an 0-3 start. It wasn't Raye's team that failed to show up in Seattle for the opener or in Kansas City on Sunday, Singletary's message hasn't worked in the locker room.

he's just the fall guy. he was running the offense that he was told to run when he was hired.

we will see if they actually make any changes in the offensive scheme and play calling and if it will help.

Hes not just the fall guy, when your down 2-3 touchdowns and your running frank gore up the middle 3 plays in a row its a problem.

He's at fault but so is Singletary so lets see how long before Jed does something.

those types of things are what jimmy raye has done for 30 years though ............... they hired him knowing how he schemed and play-called and then they were surprised when he did it? he's the fall guy. the front office probably told singletary that he needed to fire raye or they both would be fired so raye took the fall.

Is it his fault the defense allowed Cassel and a mediocre Chiefs offense to rack up almost 500 yards? The entire 49ers team is a joke. Yes - EVERY one of them!

This is Jed York's warning shot across the bow. The next one will sink the S.S. Singletary, as well it should.

Cassel can do it, as we saw when he was the starter for the Pats. Maybe he is growing as a QB.

Cassel had a better team when he was with the Pats. 49ers made him look great..grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That is true, but one man cannot be the reason the 49ers gave up so many penalties.

Cassel still sucks, the 49ers just can't defend a screen pass for their lives. I had a feeling there would be a lot of them after the Saints showed it off.

It's been showed off for the last 3 years to anyone who has paid attention.

One down, two to go. Would be more enthusiastic if I had any confidence this team would make a decent choice for a replacement. Seriously, Ericson, Nolan, Sing? I'm calling it now- Cam Cameron for HC 2012!

You don't want Cam Cameron as a HC.
