While it might appear that WR Brandon Lloyd's gaudy offensive numbers are coming from out of nowhere, Pro Football Weekly hears that the 29-year-old has been working toward a breakout season for several years. It started in Chicago, where Lloyd began to develop chemistry with QB Kyle Orton, and continued after the wideout signed with Denver in June 2009, reuniting him with Orton. A source close to the team said Lloyd played well enough in practice last season to earn more playing time, but because the Broncos' receiving corps stayed relatively healthy last season, he didn't see action until the last two games of the ’09 season, catching 4-95-0 in Week 17 when playing in place of a deactivated Brandon Marshall. Word is, Lloyd also had gotten into multiple verbal spats with WR coach Adam Gase concerning his lack of playing time last season. However, Lloyd has impressed the coaching staff by consistently working hard, and with the departure of WRs Marshall and Brandon Stokley this past offseason, he finally earned a bigger role.
