What is taking the Redskins so long in extending Donovan McNabb? Between the lines ... the two sides have had since the first week of June to work out a deal. For myriad reasons, it hasn't happened. If you're McNabb, this reason would pierce the psyche most: Maybe Shanahan is still unsure you're his guy for the long haul. After 11-plus years of establishing yourself as an elite NFL quarterback and taking your team to the NFC championship game five times in the past nine years, you're inexplicably still auditioning for the lead role for a franchise that hasn't been there since the 1991 season. *waits patiently for phigles & oxlong ...* mcnabb is average at best to date. shanahan is right not dealing with mcnabb until he sees the guy produce.
I have said many times that McNabb has been avg in DC but it's with below avg talent and line so again. He's elevating the play of his team. If McNabb is healthy there is no way he's not a redskin next season.
I do NOT need this contract to get worked out, he needs to just do what he can do this season and just come to Minnesota next season. They are only using him to get money anyway, he is in like 20 commercials for DC, I have never seen this many commercials for one redsksins player in the 21 years i have lived here.
