The Oakland Raiders have signed linebacker Bruce Davis off the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group reports. Defensive tackle Jay Alford has been released. Davis was a 2008 third-round pick (88th overall) out of UCLA by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 6-3, 252-pound linebacker appeared in five games as a rookie, but has yet to appear in an NFL game since. The son of former Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Bruce Davis spent much of last season on the New England Patriots' practice squad, and had a brief stint with the Denver Broncos this off-season.
