Ronde Barber heard the boos rain down on his brother at the Meadowlands Sunday night and he says that reaction says something about Giants fans. Nothing very good. "It reflects poorly on the Giants fans," Ronde told Sirius NFL Radio Friday. "They were there to honor him for what he did on the football field and they let what he's done post-football come into play. I think it's unfortunate." Tiki Barber was one of 30 ex-Giants enshrined in the new "Ring of Honor" at halftime of the Giants' victory over Chicago. But he was the only one booed, thanks largely to critical comments he made about Tom Coughlin. Ronde said Tiki realized the negative reaction was coming, "I just wish that it wouldn't have," he said. "It shouldn't have happened that way," Ronde said. "I heard that (Michael) Strahan gave him a hug and walked him off the field because it probably could have got ugly. It was supposed to be a joyous moment, and to have the reaction that they had for Tiki is a little bit unfortunate." Source: NY Daily News
What would have been smart and avoided the situation, is Tiki realizing he has been an butt since leaving and not shown up like LT. Saying it should have been a joyous occasion, then showing up knowing you bring no joy to the occasion reflects poorly on Tiki.
Ronde is right. Tiki is a douche for sure but his play for the vagiants was honorable and it really is none of their business if he leaves his wife for some young puunanee. As for saying negative things about the team alot of what he has had to say about the team since he left it is correct and he was trying to be a commentator not a fan with a mic like Aikman is for Dallas.
Giants fans are just bitter because he retired early and we didn't want him to retire. And Tiki changed Coughlin, and he retired so Giants could change leadership thus making Tiki responsible for the Giants XLII Super Bowl victory. ...according to Tiki anyway.
Thanks for criticizing Coughlin and sending us on a awesome 2 game win streak, Tiki! He sure has lost the team! ps. I really like what you've done with the defense.
