Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini said he is "leaning" toward starting rookie quarterback Colt McCoy on Sunday in Pittsburgh. McCoy would be making his NFL regular-season debut against the Steelers. Mangini said the possibility of McCoy playing will depend on the status of quarterbacks Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, who are both battling ankle injuries. Neither will practice on Wednesday. Mangini said he has confidence in McCoy, a third-round pick who struggled throughout much of the exhibition season. Source: Associated Press
They honestly don't have much of a choice, your best QB had a high-ankle sprain, putting him out there would be suicide. Delhomme will surely turn the ball over 10 times. Sign a QB for reserves, and throw the kid into the fire.
mccoy is going to have to play pretty damn well because wallace hasn't been bad at all. if all 3 qb's were healthy, wallace would still be in there.
