In a lighter environment, Wade Phillips could be running a lucrative kangaroo court. Exasperated by the constant stream of penalties, [Phillips] considers everything from fines to running 568 miles as potential solutions to the problem. The Cowboys rank third in the NFL for both penalties (48) and yards penalized (409). They trail Detroit and Oakland in each category. ... "I don't think there's any doubt about what we want," Phillips said. "Whether it's fines or running 10,000 100s, whatever it is, we're going to get it done." (Running 100 yards 10,000 times would equal 568.2 miles.)

No, but it does bring in the possibility of having a coach willing to punish for stupid silly mental errors.

As I said in an earlier post, Jones will not fire Phillips this season because of money. It's expensive to hire head coaches and assistants.

IMO, although some may want to, none of the NFL owners are going to be hiring any new head coaches this season, because none of the NFL owners know if there is even going to be an NFL season in 2011.
