The Ravens could pursue Shawne Merriman if the pass-rushing linebacker passes through waivers, according to Sports Illustrated's Peter King. The Ravens' interest is contigent on Merriman passing a physical and agreeing to a low-money deal, King said on Twitter. According to a league source, the Ravens have discussed Merriman in meetings. Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome told The Baltimore Sun that he couldn't comment on Merriman because is still under contract with the San Diego Chargers. Merriman, a former standout at the University of Maryland, was placed on the injured reserve list with a calf injury and a minor-injury designation last Wednesday, and once he is deemed healthy, the Chargers will place him on waivers. I'd love for the Ravens to sign him... What's it say when the Chargers are getting pushed all over the place and they don't want him...lol.
What they are not telling you is that his injury is an achilles injury, not the calf injury as reported. An achilles injury can take up to 3-5 months to heal properly. Maybe SM can get some prescription steroids to help the healing process
