Vikings quarterback Brett Favre conducted his weekly news conference wearing a walking boot to protect his fractured left ankle. But Favre made clear that he wants to play Sunday against the New England Patriots and is pushing hard to return to practice as early as Friday. As you might have heard, he has started 291 consecutive games and said Wednesday that his ability to play through previous injuries "gives me optimism" that he can play through this one as well.

Of course he is. He doesn't want his consecutive starts record to go out the window.
