Tampa Bay cornerback Aqib Talib was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his effort against the Arizona Cardinals. Talib had two interceptions, one that he returned for a touchdown and another that ended the Cardinals’ final threat, in a 38-35 win by Tampa Bay. His five interceptions are second in the NFL. It is the first time a Buc has won the honor since Ronde Barber captured the award in Week 12 of the 2008 season. Source: The Ledger
Congrats to Aqib, he was ballin out there Sunday. Now if he could just stopped getting burned on deep throws...
yep, he's still pretty erratic and a big risk-taker. i think he's slowly getting better and more polished as time goes by though, so he could eventually turn out to be the top 5 corner the bucs were hoping for when they drafted him.
I agree, he has elite corner potential. His on the ball skills are difficult to match, but his aggressiveness is a gift and a curse. Sometimes he's so concerned with making the splash play that he forgets a knockdown is just as valuable on 3rd down.
A little polish and he will be a great one. Some of those long balls this year were caused by a safety misread.
