Packers Nick Collins Fined $50K For Helmet-To-Helmet Hit

Typically, the NFL waits until Friday to announce the fines that have been handed out from the previous weekend’s games. There was no delay whatsoever when it came to the fine handed down to Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins for the shot he gave Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams to the back of the head in Sunday night’s game at Lambeau Field. The NFL socked Collins with a $50,000 fine, which seems high for a player with a reputable history of clean football. Collins, of course, has the right to appeal the fine. The league is cracking down in a big way on helmet-to-helmet hits but the fines are growing large and it will be interesting to see how much longer the NFLPA will survey the action before getting involved. DeMaurice Smith commented on it last week, but it seems like the union might want to get involved sooner rather than later.

Well I think this one was clear cut, not to many would argue with this fine in my opinion.

Where do the goobers learn to tackle? This stupid crap just justifies what Goodell is trying to do.

    Thanks, Nick.

Even though I think $50,000 for a first time offender is ridiculus, i'm not suprised about Nick Collins getting fined and well deserved. I invite him to appeal this fine, lol.

Maybe Collins read a book on "How to tackle for Dummies"?

Yup... Collins had a good second or two to put on the brakes and avoid the hit.
