Washington Redskins practice squad running back James Davis tweeted that he turned down an opportunity to join the Carolina Panthers today. Davis spent much of his rookie season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, and had fallen behind Peyton Hillis and Mike Bell on the Browns' depth chart, leading to him being inactive for several weeks before he was placed on waivers. Davis, who joined the Redskins' practice squad on October 27, added that he felt that the 'Skins were "a good fit", and that the team "took care of him", which means that Davis could now be earning more than the $5,200 salary practice squad players receive each week. Had Davis signed with the Panthers, he would have been guaranteed three game-checks. For Davis, who had been earning $395,000 from the Browns, three game-checks equals $69,706. He's prolly salty with the Browns but we could really use him back. Real dumb decision to release him to begin with.
Good choice JD, best chance at a starting job. Carolina just needs him until there RBs get healthy, then he would be 3rd or 4th string if he's lucky.
