Although reports suggested coach Brad Childress would have been fired if the Vikings lost Sunday to the Arizona Cardinals, indications are owner Zygi Wilf is reluctant to give up on this season, given the major investments the team has made for a championship run. But Childress might get ousted when -- and if -- the Vikings notch a seventh loss. The Vikings rallied from a 14-point deficit with less than five minutes left to force overtime and beat the Cardinals. Afterward, though, nary a player publicly cast a life preserver toward the beleaguered coach. ''We know that Childress doesn't have our backs, so why should we have his?'' one player said. ''We're playing for us, and we're winning despite him.'' Source: Chicago Tribune
First time I've heard a lot of those quotes, and coming from the Chicago Tribune, I have to wonder if its bs.
