Clinton Portis’ Redskins career may be over and according to multiple media outlets, the nine-year veteran running back was placed on Injured Reserve Wednesday. Portis re-aggravated his groin injury this past Sunday after missing the previous five games. This news comes as a mild surprise only because some suspected Portis would play in Week 12 after an MRI earlier in the week reportedly revealed no new damage to the groin, but the fact that Washington would make this move despite Ryan Torain being less than 100 percent suggests Portis’ health is worse than outsiders figure. Portis is an aging, injury-prone runner who has taken some 2,500 hits in his career and he’s due over $8 million in 2011. It’s possible he could remain in Washington only because he is close to Dan Snyder but the Redskins learned this year with Willie Parker and Larry Johnson that once a runner hits a wall, there’s no salvaging his career. Denver is right but like Westbrook, Portis appears to be finished. Westbrook was finished before last season and I think Portis was finished before this season started. And yes he should have stayed in Denver, and for the record Portis>>> westbrook.
POrtis was done 2 years ago. This ends his career in Washington and pretty much ends his career in the NFL.
