Titans QB Vince Young Apologizes To Coach Jeff Fisher

After reflecting upon the tumultuous events of Sunday's overtime loss that culminated with him walking out on the Titans, quarterback Vince Young texted coach Jeff Fisher with an apology Tuesday for his actions and words. Fisher confirmed for reporters Wednesday that he received the text, which came a day after Young was asked to leave the Titans' facility because he was not welcome at a team meeting. Asked if Fisher rather would have the apology occur face to face, the coach said, "You guys draw that conclusion." "I'm not a real big text guy. I'm not really into this new-age stuff," Fisher said. "I don't Twitter or tweet. But I think face to face is a man thing, OK?" Asked if a text was better than no apology at all, Fisher said: "Someone could have grabbed his phone." In the text, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Young thanked Fisher for the opportunity to play for the Titans and wished him and the team good luck for the rest of the season. Young ended the text by asking Fisher to have more faith and confidence in him moving forward, and said that they each wanted the same thing -- to win a Super Bowl. Young needs season-ending surgery to repair a flexor tendon in his right thumb, which he injured in the third quarter of a 19-16 loss to Washington.

A text? Really? A freaking text to apologize for embarrassing himself, the coach, the team?

Fisher should stick to his guns and can him as soon as Week 17 ends.

I understand it's not a great way to apoligize, but don't just blow it off Jeff.

 

I think he has in his own way.....this just further proves to him that Young is not the type of leader he wants in a QB.

He's far proven himself more than Young has in his five seasons.

Or break-up with his girlfriend that way. Some things need to be done face to face or at the very least via a phone call.

 

A text apology is incredibly weak. Imagine if Fisher texted Young: "I'm puttin u on IR. LOL" Actually, that would have been pretty awesome.

Exactly! When Vince Young has a hissy fit over it, Coach Fisher would then tell him to relax because its not going to cost him anything extra for the text message.

 

How can u get a face to face meeting/apology when he's not allowed on the property.

Fisher is the most unproven coach in the NFL, just b/c he's still there doesn't make him good. He had his best season 2 seasons ago when he 13-3 and lost the 1st playoff game and lost in his only SB appearance. so what makes him proven?

In fact if fisher would have stuck with vy through hard times and not continually bench him, he would have a tuff QB that knows how to respond in these situations.
