Lions Have No Plans To Fire Coach Jim Schwartz

Discussion in 'Detroit Lions' started by BigBlueBruiser, Nov 21, 2010.

  1. For the first time as head coach in Detroit, Jim Schwartz is starting to feel a little heat. Most in question has been his game-management skills, particularly in the late losses to the Jets and Bills, in which critical coaching decisions backfired on him. Pro Football Weekly's sources around the team indicate that there are no plans whatsoever to fire Schwartz or move in another direction. But he might be encouraged to play the odds more often instead of taking risks as observers say he sometimes outsmarts himself.

I should hope not, I expect them to compete for the division title next year. I think the crapty Calvin Johnson TD call just kind off set the the tone for the season.

This article is just stirring the pot with a goobered spoon. No reason to even consider firing him, that team's playing, which is more than what was happening when he got there. Who even says Schwartz is "feeling heat"...oh yeah. The author's "sources" around the team. If you're going to say he's feeling anything, talk to the guy. Lazy butt writers with no story just putting words on paper, or in this case a screen. Words like "observers think" and "sources say" make for terrible journalism, at least in this case. PFW fail.

If they do let Jim Schwartz go, then I say they should offer the New England Patriots money and draft picks to get Bill Belichick. If Bud Adams chooses Vince Young over Jeff Fisher, then maybe the Lions should try to get him.

I would say that they should give Schwartz another year. To get their defense going, they should try to hire Marvin Lewis as their defensive coordinator and let Gunther Cunningham retire.

  5. why in the world would he be fired? They're trying to fix a decade of damage and doing it very well imho.

i think hes doing a great job in making that team good and giving them an elite roster in 2 years....even i say to myself "oh not again" when watching lions games. theyve lost some heartbreakers but hes gonna get to add another top 5 pick this year and hopefully put it all together next season

There were times yesterday when the Lions actually looked good. Resetting the team again isn't going to help that.

This team is fighting, and no team is wanting to face them knowing that that week could be the week the Lions pull it off. This is a young team, they need to learn how to pull these kinds of games out with their franchise QB, and hope that he can stay healthy for a 16-game season.

Schwartz is the man. Lions will be vying for the division title next season. Their defense is on the verge of being bad butt...if the rest of the D can catch up to the D-Line...look out...

Agree on another made up story by a writer to justify his job, like the Mortensen story on Brady's dissatisfaction with his contract negotiations. Source a Brady friend:icon_rolleyes: Brady had just said he wasn't concerned about it, and why would he be. He knew he was going be paid mega bucks, whenever they got it done. Why would he worry about it?

Forget what I said a few weeks ago. I do think that the Lions have potential and that Schwartz is the one to right the ship. I realize now that you can't expect someone to come in with a magic wand and fix everything. I think that the Lions will be much better next season, although I am not ready to put them in the playoffs. They may need another season or two.
