Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan said Tuesday that if he had thrown a punch at Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson he would have been suspended, USA Today reported. During the fourth quarter of Sunday's 20-0 Texans win, Johnson and Finnegan got into a fight, with each player tearing the other's helmet off. Johnson proceeded to throw two punches to Finnegan's head. The NFL issued each player a $25,000 fine on Monday, but neither was suspended. Finnegan said if he had been the one throwing punches, the NFL would have suspended him. "As a respect issue, when your helmet comes off, the play is over," Finnegan told Nashville's 104.5 FM. "Did I want it to escalate into that? Absolutely not. At a point he snapped and he started throwing blows. The only thing that upsets me … is if you reverse that and it's me I have a game suspension."

More like if the Texans weren't playing Thursday night on NFL Network Johnson would have been suspended.

He started the crap and Johnson ended it. Period. His snitch butt got embarrassed on national tv. And if the roles were reversed given his past Finnegan would have been suspended. Deservedly so.

He is right, if it were him, it would have been a suspension. He would also be more deserving of a suspension than Andre Johnson.

Finnegan throwing punches is totally different than Andre Johnson throwing punches. Finnegan would be more deserving b/c of his past. Johnson has no history of anything but his play on the field. Finnegan has a history. Same thing with James Harrison...if Harrison started throwing hay makers, he'd be suspended. Richard Seymour has been a model citizen...not deserving of a suspension in this case. Isolated incident.

    It's the NFL way...

I find it odd that Johnson and Seymour got fined less than Harrison

I dont. They have had pretty much zero trouble in the league before those incidents. Harrison is a repeat offender..and hes been a whiny little punk about it.

Well if you watch the video closely Finnegan went up and jammed Johnson in the face. Then when Johnson pushed back and ripped his helmet off it looks like Finnegan tried to throw a punch. Watch at 42 seconds YouTube - [HD] Cortland Finnegan and Andre Johnson Fight! (ALL CAMERA ANGLES)!

Now I believe both should have been suspended. But Finnegan is trying to say he didn't do anything in the fight is questionable at best.
