Donovan McNabb saw good times and, well, less good times in Philadelphia. The reality is, those final few, disappointing seasons were largely the result of McNabb breaking down after five or six years of playing the way Michael Vick is playing right now. Blown knees, sports hernia, sprained thumb, busted ankle. The cumulative effect of all that punishment turned McNabb into the less-dynamic, but still more-than-competent quarterback he was at the end here. That's the lesson both Vick and Reid need to grasp now, before history repeats itself with the younger man. Source: The Inquirer
Vick takes hits for three reasons: 1) Makeshift OL. Nothing can be done right now. 2) Holds on to the ball too long. Good thing, shows his newfound patience, but trusts this OL too much. 3) He's a runner. He will always be a runner. The thing they really need to work on in the offseason is teaching him how to slide and to get out of bounds instead of getting blasted for an extra two yards. Comparing him and McNabb here is ridiculous. McNabb would hyperextend crap running out of bounds.
It's all borrowed time anyway. Vick wasn't even supposed to be there, let alone be starting. It was a surprise to everyone. Best ride that crap till the wheels fall off.
..except for the $15M the Eagles will probably pay him next season for a franchised player. That's their money.
