The Vikings game against the New York Giants at Mall of America Field has been moved to Monday night because of the blizzard that hit the Twin Cities on Saturday. The decision was made by NFL executives on Saturday night after they initially said they planned to have the game remain a noon kickoff. The Giants' plane was diverted to Kansas City on Saturday afternoon because of the storm and the team had to spend the night there. The original plan was for the Giants to fly to Minneapolis early Sunday. However, one of the main issues Saturday became the Metrodome roof and all the snow that had accumulated on it during the storm. "Due to the severe weather conditions and on the recommendation of Metrodome officials, the Giants-Vikings game will be moved to Monday night," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in an e-mail. "The kickoff time at the Metrodome and television arrangements will be announced as soon as they are determined." Source: Star-Tribune
hahaha ........... favre can now say "hey i wasnt going to play sunday but those extra 24 hrs.... im good to go." no one can stop his streak.....
So what the heck is going to happen to the Ravens/Texans game?! If they snake us out of a Monday Nighter I'm gonna be choked :icon_evil:
Doesn't effect your game at all (minus Min. and NY viewership). Most markets that would have seen the Giants/Vikes are losing the game and getting an alternate on Sunday. Only NY and Minn. local markets getting it Monday night. At least that is what the latest word is from what I've read. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/11/fox-will-televise-giants-vikings-game-on-monday-night[sort of]/
Heavy snow collapses Metrodome roof – This Just In - CNN.com Blogs Time to push for that new stadium.
NFL network just reported that Metrodome officials stated they don't think the roof can be repaired by Monday night.
They could play at TCF Bank Stadium, the high of 4 degrees expected Monday would make for an interesting game.
I heard on espn that the Giants didn't come with their heavy cold weather gear. Damn shame because they atleast should have came prepared. I would not be suprised if this game was in another NFL dome stadium.
No matter how they work it, it's going to be a nightmare, and I don't think it could be pulled off before Tuesday. Giants didn't bring cold weather gear, UM stadium is buried in snow, and would take a lot of people to clear it for a game. Moving to the closest NFL indoor facility would be a mess with ticket sales, but I think that is the route they will go.
the vikings have already said the metrodome is not going to be available monday OR tuesday. the game will likely need to be played at an alternate venue but the league needs to figure something out very quickly because the giants are battling for a division and if they end up playing tuesday or wednesday, it won't be fair at all to them to be going into their next game against the eagles for the division on an extremely short week. the league needs to figure something out and fast.
