In the wake of last Sunday's 34-30 loss to New Orleans, everyone is still wondering why an eighth-year quarterback making more than $100 million can call plays but doesn't have the authority to call a timeout. Quarterback Carson Palmer revealed after the game that coach Marvin Lewis is the one responsible for calling timeouts, but it was Palmer who called the final timeout with eight seconds remaining. After Brian Leonard's screen pass got the ball to the Saints 37, the Bengals burned six seconds trying to line up before Palmer called time out with eight seconds left. "I don't worry about that. My job is to get us to the line of scrimmage and get the play called. I let him handle all of that stuff and I just try to get everybody in the right spots and lined up and get the play called," Palmer said. Should Lewis not return for a ninth season in Cincinnati, and the odds are near even that he will be out of a job the week of Jan. 3, any prospective future employer should take a look at his clock-management skills, which are highly lacking. He's worse than Herm Edwards, dude needs to be gone. Can't believe he's held down the head coaching job for the Bengals this long.
